Day 3 of the winter snow storm

We found about 6 inches of new snow this morning and it kept coming!i
It was so pretty.
Everything looks pure in the snow.
It was so good to see the sun again.  When it started to appear, it was time for more plowing.  We are really pleased with the performance of the tractor.
Surely the worst is over.
The beauty and the moisture have been blessed us.

Day 2 of the winter storm

There was little more snow overnight, but it was cold this morning at about 26 degrees.
In the hot tub, we listened to the unbelievable quiet.  It was interrupted by several coyotes in the distance. The neighborhood is somewhat deserted with most of the seasonal people returning to their primary homes.
We kept the fire going strong all day and loved it.
An inside project was decluttering the dumping areas, exploring under our bed and cleaning out the file cabinet.
A trip down the mountain went just fine and we made it up again!  An accomplishment!

Day 1 of the winter snow storm.

Out our front door this morning.
It was so quiet and still.
We needed a hardy, sustaining breakfast on Christmas plates for this snowy day.
Apparently, "Buck" was having a hard time finding food.  He arrived around noon and stayed for lunch with us.
Buck had corn
and deer pellets
while we had leftover stew.
Mickey's morning project was getting the snow plow on the tractor.
The afternoon project was using it.
There was an adjustment.
The hydrolics were tested.
And off he went.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

Christmas music set the tone for the day.
A turkey sandwich with cranberry salsa just seemed to fit.

So, here is a little Christmas tour.

While I decorated, Mickey got the lights in here.

Update on the enclosure and our view from the hot tub on Wednesday

Insulated and wired, the enclosure is coming along.
In addition to several outlets, the 220v is by the door.
We are thankful for the beautiful weather this week.
It even convinced us to wash windows.  Luckily, I did all the lower level.

The view from our hot tub:

While soaking our aching muscles!

Deer Sighting

After a trip to Angel Fire this afternoon for supplies, we saw a couple of bucks up the mountain from our driveway.  They stood still for a pictures.
We enjoy having them stop by, so we grabbed the corn and deer pellets from inside the cabin and tossed it out to lure them.
It worked!  Three of them came near the cabin, but only this one seemed to be hungry enough to feed just outside our door.
He was a ten point buck (5X5).  Look at that rack!  Tall, narrow, symmetrical and nice!  It also looked heavy.
We will be enticing them for the next few days and hope that the mountain jays will share corn with them.

Just Another Mountain Retreat

This was a beautiful weekend in the mountains.
It was warm enough to have lunch outside.
Meagan tied three blankets.
Donnalee and Denene scrapbooked.
Melanie made a soft quilt for her daughter.
Hannah covered and decorated wine bottles.
Haley and Kelsey quilted and made Christmas aprons.
There was some school work to be done.
Several movies were watched, including I Am Sam bringing tears to all.
Where did the time go?
With hikers, crafters, quilters and scrap bookers, there was something for everyone.
These pretty girls have such sweet spirits.
United!
Thank you for coming!
