Easter

It is hard to know where to begin to report on Saturday's event. My original goal was to obtain funding for our auxiliary. When the egg hunt was presented, it just seemed to be the right fit. So, by offering this free event for children, we raised around a good amount of money for our Auxiliary.

Our parking crew, wearing the new yellow safety vests (purchased by the auxiliary for this event and now will be used by the auxiliary for fires) did a fabulous job of getting everyone in safely. And they welcomed each carload!
We added three new members to our auxiliary!
Inside the pavilion, which we used compliments of the Dukes, the  Sangre De Cristo Gospel Band played upbeat music, while attendees sat at the tables to enjoy. Also, our volunteers held the silent auction, bake sale and prize claim.

Outside, James and his food service volunteers offered hot dogs, nachos and drinks. All 160 hot dogs and all nachos were sold. The leftover drinks were donated to the fire station.

Jason manned the fire truck and gave out fire prevention literature. He also talked with several people about joining our GVFD.
Before the egg hunt started, this little cutie practiced with pine cones!
The egg hunt was a big hit with around 75 children hunting eggs hidden by Chris and a crew of volunteers.  There were many prizes donated by merchants and others purchased with merchant and individual donations.
Over 2,000 eggs were hidden!
These girls posed with their eggs!
There was a great deal of community involvement and mingling among the hundred or so adults who came from all over the Mora and Guadalupita Valleys as well as surrounding areas.

It was an absolutely beautiful, sunny, warm day. There were families sitting on blankets outside, while children opened their eggs. At 3PM, as we loaded the very last of the tables into our truck, rain began to fall.
This little guy stole my heart. So polite and sweet!

Just a touch of Spring in the mountains...

This looks like rain coming or maybe snow? No, just fog that never produced.
I had not seen this before. This is one of the Aspens by the back patio. They are pretty little blossoms.
Spring appeared to be here.
This pretty sunset was seen from the Guadalupita Post Office.
And then there was snow.

A snowy day just seems like a good time to burn a pile of brush until the neighbors call the fire department.
