Large, Small and Bacaw!

This morning, Jacob was excited

to show us this BIG moth! 

It was HUGE!

And extremely interesting!

Opposite the moth is the

tiny blue butterfly.

Jake has wanted to handle one all week.

Finally, he wore his orange shirt

that attracts tiny blue butterflies!

Just so you know,

the reverse on the

little blue 4 wheeler

is extremely manual. 

Another lesson riding around the cabin

and to the cul de sac.

Back to work!

Splitting wood,

while "Bacaw" watches.

Mickey calls him "Bear Claw".

I call him my big brother.

Limbs, Logs and Little Boys

Vaden prepared the limbs

for chipping. 

Jacob helped, too.

Another 4 wheeler lesson

with Mickey.

Jacob followed along our driveway.

He is getting the hang of it.

Splitting the huge log.

Craaaack!

It made about 24 pieces of firewood.

All boys like sticks

for swinging...

hitting things with it...

pole vaulting...

or trying to make a spark.

A stick can provide hours of fun

for a boy!

We are thankful for our

endless supply of sticks!

I am getting old...

I can't believe I did that!

I forgot to remove the SD Card

from my computer last night

and to put it back in the camera.

I thought I took

several more pictures today.

But, of course they are not there.

This evening,

we played a great game of farkle.

Lots of laughter!

There was a shower,

lightening and thunder

and an incredible sunset!

We are here for a week!

We arrived this afternoon

with my brother, Vaden

and his grandson, Jacob.

Jacob found the checkers

and a hot game ensued!

Mickey enlisted Jacob's help

to fill the deer feeder.

During this process,

the timer adjusted to "feed"

and corn flew out all over their feet!

We laughed so hard!

Next, the birds needed feed.

After dinner,

we had dessert on the front deck.

Jake was fascinated with the humming birds!

Mickey encouraged him to

hold his hand where the birds

would land to drink.

He was very patient and loved

the rush of air he felt when

they came by.

My brother and

my great nephew.

I just don't think that

he could appreciate it

and it is unfair for him to win.

Green Thumbs, Fire Building and Great Family Time

There was need for a change, so

Mickey and Steve moved the deer feeder.

I love beautiful flowers,

but I'm just not good at this.

Time for some kindling,

a fire builder

and a hot dog cook out.

This has been a fun family trip.

Photos of Us on the Trail

We missed Larry and Terry today.

They had to go back to Ruidoso yesterday.

It was a beautiful day on the trail.

 

This was our first stop for the

first of many great photo ops.

And photos of the photo ops!

We had a little snack break.

And a short stop by a stream.

Lunch is our favorite break.

Because sometimes we take a short nap.

This is the view from that position.

It was lovely and comfy

on soft grass!

This is our favorite place.

You can see for miles and miles.

We discovered this dry stacked wall

a couple of years ago.

We don't know anything about it,

except that it is just really neat

and obviously well built long ago.

The lakes are full this year.

Last year they were almost all dry.

We are thankful for all the winter snowfall

and the Spring rains.
