Long distance blogging is a totally new concept!

Bacon lovers unite!

What a breakfast deal!

Warming brisket for sandwiches 

on the trail before it rains!

Back at the cabin,
it's thundering and about to rain.

So a little snack by the fire
(cheese dip and fritos)
before cooking fajitas.

We rode on the State Trust Land today.  We didn't find the trail we have been looking for, but we did find the old man who claims he owns or leases everything there.  We rode right into his "camp" and were surrounded by 5 or 6 unfriendly little kids until the old man walked over.  Same story as last time.  In very vague terms and descriptions he claims to have rights to all sorts of things and areas.  We got his name before leaving and let him know we had been asked to notify the State if anyone hassled us.  He seemed a little confused when we showed him our permit, but not particularly worried.  We will call the state tomorrow and try to get some answers.

We got back here about 3:30. It was cool, about 55, and rainy.  Baker cooked fajitas for dinner.  TV has no sound, so we went to bed early.  They love sitting out on the front deck and admiring the view and really like the cabin.

We saw the bear AND the fox during breakfast today!  Also there were two coyotes in the meadow as we left this morning.

My Little Project

It is complete and ready for use!

Designed for outdoor use, 

it is waiting on the back deck across from the grill.

Mickey's is still processing.

It will take weeks, then months!

But will be worth the wait.

Projects

Mickey is trying a new hobby.

He spent several hours with DVD instruction,

then he read the instructions,

and he made notes.

What a great student!

Can you guess what he is doing? 

 First, the grape juice concentrate.

 Adding the bentonite mixture.

 Mixing in the oak.

Making wine is quite a process.

We will follow the progress.

My new project is painting an old table 

that was headed to the dump

before my turquoise vision. 

 After sanding and repairing,

the color is applied.

 This is exterior paint because it is an outside table.

 It is a comfortable afternoon for eating outside,

 So, here we are with French Dips.

 These girls can't get enough of the rain!

Add a little coffee and here is a perfect afternoon! 

And here it comes!

 It is wet and cool.

We are cool and thankful.

This will be a great evening for Chicken Pot Pie!

Using my Dutch Oven, the vegies are started.

The skillet is perfect for the chicken sauce. 

 Now, all together in the Braiser for the oven.

I did add a crust on the top and it cooked beautifully! 

A hot game of Clue is happening this evening.

Mickey completed an online survey from

Our Keurig had become really loud.

This one is unbelievably quiet.

Mickey visited with an old friend last week who has a family farm.

He said that this is great bird seed

Preparing for a retreat weekend,

In the Dutch Oven, on the grill burner,

I boiled 12 eggs.

 Bring to a full boil, 

 remove from heat,

cover for 10 minutes. 

Pour off hot water and add cold water.
Remove shells.

 Next,

 Let's  prep a little more!

Fry the bacon

 Slice the  eggs

 mix together in the Dutch Oven

 yes, in the same pan

store in the refrigerator!

Clean up?

Dishwasher!

 In the skillet, we fry sausage for another day.

and clean  up with soap, water, a nylon scrubby and barkeepers friend

 All this cooking has made me hungry!

Off on our 4 wheelers to the Hungry Bear!

 It's NEW, cute little cafe at the entrance to our subdivision! 

Friendly atmosphere, good food and extremely convenient.

Best of all, someone else cooks and cleans!
