Broken window, Geometric Images, Water and Fire

Jack learned to caulk
while helping PawPaw
replace a window.
The boys didn't do it.
It was broken during
the porch renovation.
Caulking is really difficult
and something that I am confident
that I couldn't do,
kinda like painting.
Someone else has to do it,
I am just no good at it!

Roger Burrows Images
It is a book of geometric designs.
All the kids love it,
but fight over who gets to color
in the book.
This week it is perfect for Jack!

What is it about water that attracts boys?
They just have to get in it!

Fire is another big attraction.
Gathering  the wood.
Laying it just right.
And striking the match!
This is the really fun part!

Jack helped me with this flower bed.
He is really good with
the placement of rocks!

This looks like a pretty serious discussion!
Knives?
Food?
Games?
I don't know!

A close second to hot dogs,
a boy's favorite supper is...
Hamburgers!

After eating,
we went to WAR!
Just a card game.

Jack and I read
A Wrinkle in Time
until my eyes were too heavy,
so he finished the chapter.
Good night

Still no deer.

This summer, we are having each of our
older grandkids come for visit.

This is Jack,
our eldest grandson.
He is with us for a few days at the cabin.
He loves to whittle
and build fires.

Mickey, what are you doing up there?
"The very last piece of trim on the roof,
finally!"

The deer feeder needs corn-
Lower, fill and raise!
But, still no deer! :(

Riding to the creek.
Please notice the new helmet!

Discussing how to skip rocks.
I am unsure of the roles here-
teacher and student?

Suddenly, this little creature appeared!
Marmot?
Mole?
Or what?
If you know, please post the answer!

While we watched,
he covered the hole
from within!
A bit unfriendly, we thought.

Back at the cabin,
this Red Headed Woodpecker
was too intent on his mission
to notice us!
Thank you for eating bugs from our trees!

Jack and the axe.
There are so many things
that a ten year old can do
when his younger siblings
are not around!

And now it's time to say goodbye to all my Merry Friends

The cleaning ladies showed up!

Vacuuming
and cleaning
and laundry
with Merry Hearts!

(left to right) Betty, Susie, Greta, Carolyn, Bobbye, Gae and Carol.
We missed Elaine, Jan and Kay.
I love you all!
"A merry heart doeth good like a medicine."
                                        Proverbs 17:22

Merry Hearts Continued

After much coffee
and hot tub
Bobbye called everyone
to the breakfast buffet with a song!

That was fun!

It was a beautiful day for a hike!!
Carol took a little rest,
then she and Gae headed back to the cabin.
They had ice water ready for us when we returned!

After our card game
and a couple of movies,
we all went to the hot tub with wine.
Some in swimsuits
and some not.
We were all in, though!
And having a wonderful time!
iPhone apps!
Learning and sharing.

Reading...
and reading..

We watched three movies today!
It was a great day in the mountains!

More Merry Hearts

We slept a little late this morning,
had coffee in the hot tub
and a warm breakfast of cherry pecan oatmeal.

Off to Taos!
Stopping at Carolyn's cabin in Tres Ritos,
we found 11" of new snow!

Our destination in Taos?
Bent Street.
After shopping a little,
we were ready for lunch.
We talked and laughed and ate!
It was a fun time.
Strolling down the square,
Artwares Jewelry store drew us in.

Resisting the many temptations,
we headed back to the car.
More shopping?
Walmart?
Are you kidding me?
Always open.
Always a bargain.
Always fun.
More than one!

Leaving Taos, HWY 64 took us through
Angel Fire.
Several herds of elk
entertained us!

Our purchases.
Four new watches.

Three more Merry Hearts arrived this evening!
We are ready for relaxing.

Arrival of Merry Hearts!

We have met together for about
fourteen years of Bible Study.
From time to time, we had discussed
a name for our group, but with no success.
Last Spring at the cabin,
I printed a scripture passage for each of us
because it reminded me of my friends.
"A merry heart doeth good like a medicine."
Proverbs 17:22
I just like it because it seemed to fit us.
Everyone liked it so much
that we adopted it as our own,
calling our group Merry Hearts.

We had a good trip from Amarillo today
and gave the construction workers at the intersection
of I-40 and Arnot Road a good laugh
as they tried to wave us through
while we discussed the gas prices at Love's.
You know how it is when a group of four women
try to make a decision!

We stopped at Dick's in Las Vegas for dinner
and arrived at the cabin in snow!

There were elk crossing the road at the meadow,
but they were moving a little fast for photography.
Maybe you can catch a glimpse of one from behind.

We unpacked and settled in...
put in a movie,
It's Complicated
and relaxed!

We look forward to a fun day tomorrow
and the arrival of more Merry Hearts!
