GKC - Day 7

Starting the morning.
Coffee with PawPaw.
The kitchen volunteers.
What a beautiful morning!
The flag ceremony.
A little housekeeping.
Brock helps with the printer.
A puzzling situation
requires the help of cousins.

Afternoon snack...
smoothies and popcorn balls!

Time for an old favorite...
Walkie Talkie commandos
with a new twist
in the rain!
Introducing the two teams:
"The Little Kids"
It's fun...
and silly...
and rewarding!

And the returning
"Team Tornadoes!"
finding treasures
and more inside!
Our easy afternoon
was interupted by an intruder.
But, I think that the kids scared him away!

So we turned our thoughts to dinner.
It was make your own
yummy shish-ka-bobs!

Off to High School Musical III
and a little dancing.
Good night.

GKC - Day 6

It was pretty cold this morning,
so after the flag ceremony,
the kids were ready to get in the hot tub
to warm up!
I prepared the craft
while they soaked.
We were all ready for a simple craft today.

It was game day!
This was very impromptu,
but lots of fun!
War
PawPaw's shoes?
Spoons
Old Maid
Marbles
Coloring pages at Charlotte's request
Wood splitting
PawPaw makes it a game!

The 4-wheelers were running by late morning.
Round and round!

After lunch, we had a little activity,
talking about Smokey the Bear,
forest fires
and the cabin that burned about a month ago.
All campers received a bag,
bookmark, ruler and a Smokey comic book.

Now, it's time to rest a little.
The big kids had some choices.
Grant measured a lot of things,
then stretched out in the chair.
Holly Grace chose the 4-wheeler.
Jack and will went to the tree house.
Charlotte, Brock and Mitchell
took their new Smokey items to bed with them
and fell asleep.

More games...
Gold Fish (?)
Farkle

Preparing coals for our trail burgers.

Movie night...
High School Musical II
with homemade ice cream!

One more thing...

Charlotte has been talking about the grandkids.
Sometimes "the grandkids" won't let her do something.
Sometimes "the grandkids" did something.
I am waiting to hear something about "your grandkids"!

GKC - Day 5

Due to an accidental oversight,
Mitchell's night night was left
in the basement in Amarillo.
It wasn't pretty.
He had tears
and genuine sadness.
But, he had a good attitude
and was tired enough to fall asleep.
This morning, we had a celebration!
It included lots of congratulations
and the special plate!
He was pretty proud.

It was cold here this morning at 49!
Too cold to play outside
and the Direct TV was out.
So, after a filling breakfast buffet,
everyone found some entertainment.

Some card games and
some card tricks!

As the temps rose,
it was time for the flag ceremony.
Well done, color guard!

The hunt
resulted in a dead chipmonk.

I took a short hike around the driveway
with my little friends
and we found Holly Grace
in the tree house
and Grant
riding.

After lunch,
we opted for a special rest time
Some napped better than others.
Brock, Charlotte and PawPaw
are really good nappers!

The ride to Coyote Creek required
a challenge to upgrade.
Will and Jack upgraded to PawPaw's 4 Wheeler.
Holly Grace was upgraded to being
the only rider on the blue 4-wheeler.
Grant was upgraded to the 250.

Coyote Creek is always fun.
The boys immediately look for crawdads
and they caught one!

Brock explored.

With five 4-wheelers,

we are quite a convoy now.

Our cowboy supper-
Frito Chili Pie (made in the bag)
and salad.  Quick and easy clean up!
This reminds me of high school football games!
The kids thought it was fun.

Movie night is...
High School Musical!
It was enjoyed by all!
