Fall to Winter?

Last evening was beautiful!
We enjoyed the chimenea fire.
And the trees.

Today we headed to Espanola.
The Rio Grande is lined in color!

Back in our little neck of the woods,
we enjoyed the evening with
hot dogs in the living room,
the Cowboy game, :(
a warm fire
and the first snow of the season!

mmm... hmmm!

Getting even

As always,
we do not allow our retreat guests to
help with food prep or clean up,
not even carry a plate to the kitchen...
period.
This morning when we got up,
this is what we found.
With lights and sidekicks removed,
the tables were folded
and stacked aside.
The chairs were folded
and ready to store.
Clearly, this sweet group
was helping us with the cleanup!

Or...
maybe...
it was done...
to arrange
 more comfortable seating
to watch a movie.

Either way, it sure made our day easier!
Thank you
and, we appreciate you!
Goodbye, sweet friends!
We look forward to your next visit!

Autumn Continues

Honestly, I thought that
the beauty would be gone,
the trees done with color
and looking quite bare
without many leaves left.
After all, there is
snow on the higher mountains!
It is visible from Las Vegas.
But I was wrong!

The gold, though not so brilliant
continues to flow!
The Aspens are at their peak!
The cool evenings
bring a warm dip in the hot tub,
a relaxing time by the chimenea
and a dependence on the rock fireplace.
My favorite warm spot
is in our bed
under the elecric blanket!
Mmmmmmm...
good night!

Relaxed, Rested and Renewed

As I was leaving,
this tall, beautiful Aspen
caught my attention.
It stands behind the cabin
and is not really noticed.
Except today.
Those yellow leaves are oustanding
against the blue, mountain morning sky!

Amarillo by Morning!
Love this Saturday morning surprise!

Chi! Chi! Chi! Le, Le, Le!

The rescue is complete.
It was heartwarming to watch
and I am thankful to have seen it.

Don't you still have lots of questions?
I know that I do.
I am sure that we will
get the answers in the form of
books, movies and interviews.
These men and their families
will never be the same.
I pray that the change will be for good
and that they will not loose sight
of the prayers and the miracles
that brought them to the surface.

Meanwhile, back in the mountains...

For you will go out with joy

And be led forth with peace;
The mountains and the hills
will break forth
into shouts of joy before you,

And all the trees of the field
will clap their hands.

Soup, Sleep and the Fall Season!

I brought six months
of bank statements to reconcile.
Yes, I had a little catching up to do.
I have never been so far behind!
DONE!
I made a huge pot of vegetable soup
yesterday and am enjoying it this week.
I have slept late,
purged some files,
done some Bible study,
watched the rescue of the Chilean minors
with tears coming and going,
exercised a little
and read some.
And, it's not over, yet!
With still another day ahead,
I am so enjoying the beauty
of the fall season in the mountains.

Thank you for watching
the leaves turn with me!

brrrr...

It was 31 degrees this morning!
The fall foliage is incredible.
It looks like gold
 flowing across the mountains
and spilling down the valleys.
The high temperature today was mid-fifties
with rain.
Time for a fire!
mmmmm....

And the winner is...

Haley!
Thank you for your comment!
I love candy corn and fall, too!
As soon as this travel mug arrives,
I will get it to you!

Time for Raspberries!

It was a perfect Fall day for picking raspberries!
So, I made a detour to Salman Ranch
on my way to the cabin
The fields were not too busy.
The raspberries were good.
I've seen better years and
I've seen worse years.
But this year is almost over.
The first frost is due anytime.
Arriving at the cabin,
I found beautiful color!
It's the time of year that constantly
draws me to the front deck.

Until I remembered the raspberries!
I picked two pounds of raspberries
and made one jar of jam!
Oh wait...
I bought one jar of jam.
Off to the freezer!

4 Wheelers

Each year our 4 Wheelers make a trip to Amarillo
for maintenance in preparation for a big trip.
They looked particularly sad this time.

Needing more than normal maintenance,
they waited patiently.
A tie rod end and a CV joint boot were replaced.
Tires were ordered, delivered & mounted.
Hooray!
Here they come!
Happy 4 wheelers!
Ready for Utah
and another year in New Mexico!
