Recent Visitors to our Cabin

It started with a doe and her fawn.
We are adding to our "herd". Putting out deer feed, corn and alfalfa is the secret. Yesterday, there were nine deer out there and about a dozen Mountains Jays. Come on up. They would love to meet you!

Recently in the mountains...

We were honored to be invited to a Super Bowl Party in Ocate, NM.
Not your typical Super Bowl Party!
We enjoyed the game with our friends in their hunting lodge at Moleski Camp. I must admit that it was an unusual place to go for Super Bowl Sunday. It was really fun and we enjoyed the game with lots of people who were there to actually watch the game and munch on fabulous food. Our team won and that was a bonus! Thank you again to the Moleskis for their incredible hospitality.

What we do on a snowy day....

It was a beautiful snowy day in the mountains.
We hauled up the tools - saws, compressor, nail gun, etc.
We had a project designed just for this kind of day.
And here it is!
East bedroom almost done.
The landing and the bomb.

East bedroom completed.

Landing completed.

West bedroom completed.
We love the new flooring!
Come see it!

Happy New Year!

We arrived home on New Year's Eve.
Cory, Christi and our three grandsons were here and had the snow plowed and the cabin warm for us.
Happy New Year!
Slash was positioned for a controlled burn that is best done in snow.
We hiked down the 4-wheeler trail to the fort project.
Enjoying being outside with our family.
Brock kept the Blue Jays fed.
The little Polaris was retrieved from the garage.
It was fun to attach a sled to it.
Brock learned the operation of the fire place and added wood.
Sledding down the hill.
We enjoyed celebrating Christmas and the New Year 2016 with family.

SC Christmas

We flew to SC to spend Christmas with our daughter, son-in-law and four grandkids!
Christmas cookies were baked and decorated, as well as painted.
We went to a riding lesson with Holly and Charlotte.
Lots of games were played.
Shopping was done.
The dog was walked.
A trip downtown resulted in Putt Putt.
Preparation for and celebration of Christmas was filled with anticipation and joy.
The Christmas Eve service that included the children participating in the Nativity was outstanding.
Our proudest moment was Jack's Eagle Scout Ceremony.
As Scouts themselves, his siblings all participated in his ceremony.
Charlotte and Mitchell were Color Guard.
Holly welcomed everyone.
PawPaw spoke with emotion.
His Scout Masters injected humor, pride and encouragement.
He honored his mom with flowers and the Eagle Scout Mother's Pin.
His Dad had the honor of presenting his Eagle Badge.
His fellow Scouts honored him with the Eagle Salute.
Jack is the first of our five grandsons to receive his Eagle award.
The other four are on track and our granddaughters are on track for the Girl Scout Gold Award.

Christmas at the Farm

Our next trip was to East Texas to spend a few days with Nani Dot (Mickey's mom).
Amarillo by morning en route to E TX.
We all met at Steve's farm to celebrate.
It was a relaxing and fun visit with family.
We painted Christmas cookies.
Everyone participated.
It got a little competitive, but a good time was had by all!
The farm was lush and green and we enjoyed walking the acreage.
Terry fed the new baby.
Dot took a turn, as well.
Keeping Dot warm was a priority and we all enjoyed the fun, family and food.

Oven Repairs

My husband is a genius!
The convection feature went out some time ago.
Convection is needed for baking in the mountains.
Fortunately, our toaster oven has the comvection feature, so we have gotten by.
A power surge fried the circuit board, but when the new one arrived, it was different.
We pulled the heavy thermador out to make a small work area.
Labeling the 50+ wires removed from the original circuit board required much time and patience.
Replacing them on the new circuit board was tedious, as well.
At the end of the day (literally), it worked!
I am thankful that my husband is patient, knowledgeable and willing to tackle this repair.
