Our New Refrigerator!

We definitely needed more refrigerated space.
We needed more freezer and wanted more refrigerator.
I found this at Best Buy in Amarillo.

It seems to fit our needs...

and our space!

What a deal!

These girls know how to pack!

Believe it or not -
seven girls
one weekend
one vehicle
PRICELESS!

Yes, they made cute jewelry,
adorable notecards
and a couple of scrapbooks!
They win the "Travelling Light Award"!

And their motto?
What happens at the cabin stays at the cabin!

A productive and beautiful weekend!

Mickey tried out Don Cameron's electric log splitter!
It worked great!
In about 2 hours...

all the logs were split!
We are going to Home Depot this week!

Meanwhile, the trees were very busy, too!

View to the west from our front deck!

View from north master bedroom window!

Can you see it?

It is absolutely beautiful!
It looks exactly like we imagined!
Thanks once again to Cory, Steve and Brad!

This photo was taken on Thursday
from the meadow below the cabin on our way up!

Roofing - Day 7

It was a long, hard week and we are so thankful to Steve, Cory and Brad.  It is unusual to have that much fun while working that hard!  We had a good time along with great accomplishments!  Thank you.
Mickey insisted on a picture of me working on the deck-
definitely less than flattering, but proof that I did help!
Back (east side) of the cabin, which is quickly becoming the entrance
and accessible from the lower driveway
(take the left fork at our gate)!
True front (west side).
Front (west) side of the new cooking area (obviously unfinished).
Loading the old roof -.
removed from the house and
removed from the property!
Road work - check!
Water rerouted - check!
New deck - check!
New roof - check!
Are we done, yet?

Brad is moving the ladder from below as Cory steps off.
All done for the day, Cory is no longer tied off.
Loading to go home.
Thank you, Brad!
One last look at his work.
Thank you, Cory!
We could not have done it without you guys!
The boys are gone and the 'old folks' are left to finish the job.
I am not a roofer and I don't like being a roofer!
I prefer to be the girl in the kitchen.
No pictures this afternoon - the photographer was roofing.
Come back Cory!
Come back Brad!

Roofing Day 5 - Updated

Well, it seems that something had happened to my settings and I could not post pictures. I tried again today and discovered that it was a problem with the site and not me!  Unbelievable!  Actually, there aren't very many, but the first one is a great shot of the finished back side of the cabin!

Isn't it great?
The day started out great with sunhine and lots of work getting done.
Steve handing metal up.
Mickey hobbling with it.
Cory had compassion for his dad.
While Brad worked on attaching the metal.
I went into Angel Fire for chalk (to keep the metal in a straight line) and duct tape (to use for any and everything that could possibly happen) and a quick trip to the Valley Market. When I returned to the cabin, things were really going well. I got lunch almost ready and went out to see if I could help with anything.
And there they were again - those huge rain clouds and the threatening thunder. I have some good pics of them as they surrounded the cabin
to the west
 to the east!
We thought for a while that we would be missed, but it soon became apparent that we would not. I was enlisted to help although I use the term 'help' loosely! I did what I could and returned to the kitchen as the guys finished up in the rain! It didn't stop all afternoon. The good news is that the gutter in the back is working great! We are hoping to be ahead of the rain tomorrow!

Roofing Day 4

Fortunately, we got an early start this morning!
Removal of the old roof on the old front of the cabin.

Mental preparation, maybe?
More removal.
Anchoring.
Getting the ropes in place.
Underlayment.
"Hmmm it is getting warm!"
We couldn't tell which way the rain was moving.
Apparantly, it was moving toward us!
And it brought sleet and cold temps!
The front of the cabin.
Back outside after the storm!
On the back side, again!
Did you (as did Crissy and I) wonder what type of screws, were used on a metal roof?  After all, it goes through metal and wood, cannot rust or allow leakage!  It has a rubber gasket that seals when screwed in.  Pretty cool, huh?
Back to the back, again!
A well deserved break!

Roofing - Day 3

So he started the day off right!
Foot elevated, crutches & coffee handy and a watchful eye,
he was being a good consultant from the ground.
Cory attaches the rake trim.
I like it!
Brad holds the ladder in place.
uh oh
He is up and around.
Bill and Carolyn stopped by.
Mickey (crutches) and Bill (cane)!
Both with smiles!
Bill looked up at the boys going up on the roof and emphatically said,
"Be careful!"

He is getting a little too brave.
Done for the day!
Mickey's foot is quite swollen and turning pretty colors tonight.
What can I do?
