Coyote Creek, Craft, Campfire, Creating Firewood and Close Viewing

Checking things out at Coyote Creek
with Mickey
and with Backaw.

How about a craft?
We did a little scrapbooking.
It was really fun
and he did a great job!
His journalling is outstanding!
Jake was anxious to share it with Backaw
and with Mickey.
Laughter is good for the soul!

A fire building lesson.
Infortunately, we have a burn ban
because everything is so dry here.
No big, fun campfires,
but we improvised.
Start with the small, dry kindling.
Be careful.
Matches can burn!
Burned on the left.
Golden on the right.

Another lesson.
How to split firewood the
"old fashioned way".
Slowly and painfully.
Just a try!

An evening ride.

Unfortunately,
the telescope needs some repair.
But, the effort was made to see Venus close up
and the stars were still beautiful...
all of them!
I am grateful for this week
in the mountains
with my brother
and his grandson.

  1. Venus is so bright right now. I kept seeing it in the early evenings and knew it was too bright to be a star but didn't know what it was. What did we do before google?
